George McNeil, Pat Perez and Jeff Overton  were tied for second place because of behind one shot. Brendon de Jonge, Charles  Howell III, Aron Price, Matt Bettencourt, and John Rollins shared sixth place with 65 shots and 5 under par.  World ranking first player, Jim Furky got a tie for 39th after playing 68 shots at the first round.

At the age of 9, Erik Compton found that his heart has something wrong and it can't pulse strongly. Three years later, he did heart transplant surgery.  And he did again in 2008. A 30-year-old who are struggling in the dead line can't drop his dream. Until now, he is still competing for a wild card of US PGA Championship.

This week, Erik Compton attained a wild card to participate in game. He caught 9 birdies in the Old White Course, while 7 birdies were caught in the intervals of nine holes. But his start  was undesirable. In the second hole,  he swallowed a bogey for a little mud attached the ball. In the following hole,  43 feets away,  he appeared a three-putt and swollowed another bogey . "The start was really very difficult." Erik Compton admitted.

Even so, Erik Compton insisted on it on the virtue of fortitude, following with successive birdies and no bogeys. At last, he hit the lowest score of 63 this season. Maybe it is in that Greenbrier made him relaxed and comfortable. The layout of Old White Course is like  Florida Course of his hometown, even though the scenery here is very different. In the big mountains of West Virginia, tall spruce of Norway guarded with this classic golf course. So it gives us a feeling of vicissitudes of history. "This course is pretty beautiful." Erik Compton said, "You need a good start here. If you did it,  you absolutely had some advantages. Today I hit the ball to get very close to the pin, and took several beautiful putts. I guess I performed  well like so this round."
